Bournheath Village Community Centre Poetry Competition
Thank you for all the great entries for the BVCC Poetry Competition. Many of the entries were positive or lighthearted and a selection is attached. Hopefully you’ll enjoy seeing the work that has been produced by residents. Winners will be notified later in the week. Thanks again for your support – look out for our next competition.
I love the natural light flooding onto the hearth and creating a natural spotlight on the vase of flowers. However, as well as having to try to meet the challenge of separating the roses from the flowers on the tiles panel of the fire surround, the photographer has had to contend with controlling the exposure. So good effort!
I love the point of view in this composition and the energy depicted in the image. It never ceases to amaze me how a two-dimensional print can project such powerful scenes. Perhaps the sky, the bleached which clouds, compete too enthusiastically with the subject of this image: the engineering/architectural brilliance of man set against the raw power of nature.
The strength of this image lies in its storytelling. Poor stranded dog. Did he/she ever get off? I do hope so. Difficult lighting conditions to contend with, so well done on producing such an engaging image!
An interesting image: there is a tension in the composition created by the juxtaposition of asymmetry (the placement of the candles) and symmetry (the lines of the orb and its central placement). The range of tones is limited and the challenge of exposing lighted candles somewhat daunting. However, with overtones of peacefulness and spirituality, this is perhaps an example of an image where mood takes precedence over technical excellence.
