‘AFTERNOON LIGHT’ BY DENISE FIELD

'AFTERNOON LIGHT' BY DENISE FIELD 14
CRITIQUE BY MICHAEL MCILVANEY

I love the natural light flooding onto the hearth and creating a natural spotlight on the vase of flowers. However, as well as having to try to meet the challenge of separating the roses from the flowers on the tiles panel of the fire surround, the photographer has had to contend with controlling the exposure. So good effort!

DAM GOOD PICTURE (ELAN VALLEY – WALES) BY DAVID FIELD

DAM GOOD PICTURE (ELAN VALLEY - WALES) BY DAVID FIELD 15
CRITIQUE BY MICHAEL MCILVANEY

I love the point of view in this composition and the energy depicted in the image. It never ceases to amaze me how a two-dimensional print can project such powerful scenes. Perhaps the sky, the bleached which clouds, compete too enthusiastically with the subject of this image: the engineering/architectural brilliance of man set against the raw power of nature.
